Description

The Role

The Primary Production Scheduler owns the master production schedule across pre-roll manufacturing and flower packaging, translating demand signals into executable daily and weekly plans. This role is the connective tissue between demand, inventory, materials, and production capacity, ensuring the right products are planned at the right time with the right resources in place. Equally important, the role leads the network of site-based Production Schedulers as a player-coach, building scheduler capability, standardizing how scheduling gets done across facilities, and driving continuous improvement of the scheduling function itself.

This is a critical leadership and operational role for a detail-oriented, systems-minded professional who thrives on bringing order to complexity and proactively solving scheduling challenges before they become production disruptions. The Primary Scheduler succeeds by elevating the schedulers around them, through coaching, standard work, and continuous improvement, so the scheduling function consistently delivers reliable, executable plans across every GTI site.

Responsibilities

Production Scheduling

  • Build and maintain the network-level master production schedule across all SKUs, aligned to demand signals, inventory targets, and material availability
  • Apply pull-based scheduling logic to minimize WIP accumulation, reduce lead times, and improve finished goods flow predictability across the network
  • Translate weekly demand plans into executable daily shift-level schedules; communicate clearly to operations, quality, and site teams
  • Maintain scheduling tools and data integrity; continuously improve scheduling accuracy, horizon visibility, and plan reliability
  • Manage schedule changes proactively, communicating impacts, adjusting priorities, and realigning stakeholders as conditions shift

Capacity & Constraint Management

  • Proactively identify network-level capacity constraints, material gaps, labor limitations, and scheduling conflicts; escalate to VP, Production with recommended solutions
  • Monitor WIP levels and finished goods availability against targets; flag aging inventory and flow disruptions for rapid resolution
  • Lead scenario planning and capacity modeling on a 60 - 180 day horizon to inform medium- and long-term production, capital, labor, and cultivation decisions
  • Track schedule adherence by site, line, and product; identify cross-site patterns in misses and partner with site schedulers and Continuous Improvement to lead structured root cause analysis

Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Facilitate daily, weekly, and monthly network scheduling reviews with operations, quality, supply chain, and site teams; drive cross-functional alignment on priorities and constraints
  • Partner with Supply Chain and Procurement to drive systemic improvement on PO communication, ETA accuracy in D365, and packaging component lead time visibility; addressing the most common root causes of materials-driven schedule disruption
  • Coordinate with Post Harvest on biomass readiness timelines to ensure production-ready material is available when needed
  • Align with Commercial and Innovation on upcoming launches, SKU transitions, and demand changes that affect the production schedule
  • Partner with site General Managers as the dotted-line functional manager of their site Production Schedulers, supporting scheduler development, schedule quality, and consistent execution of GTI scheduling standards across the network
  • Other duties as assigned

Scheduler Leadership & Development

  • Lead the GTI Production Scheduler community of practice; provide direct coaching, mentoring, and dotted-line functional oversight to site Production Schedulers across all manufacturing facilities
  • Run regular 1:1s and a recurring scheduler huddle to share best practices, surface recurring barriers, align on priorities, and build a strong sense of team across geographically distributed schedulers
  • Onboard new Production Schedulers; build and maintain training materials, SOPs, and role playbooks that accelerate ramp-up time and reduce reliance on tribal knowledge
  • Identify capability gaps across the scheduler community and design targeted upskilling on lean scheduling principles, ERP/MES tools, data fluency, METRC compliance, and constraint management
  • Conduct site visits at GTI facilities to coach schedulers in their environment, validate adherence to standard work, and identify on-the-ground improvement opportunities
  • Serve as the functional escalation point for scheduling decisions that exceed site authority or affect more than one facility; protect schedulers’ ability to focus on the work by absorbing cross-site coordination and senior-leadership communication

Standardization & Operational Discipline Across the Network

  • Own the GTI scheduling standard work, the playbook of how the master schedule is built, sequenced, communicated, and adjusted, and drive convergence to it across all sites
  • Identify and lead kaizen events targeting the highest-impact scheduling pain points, e.g., changeover loss, overpack, biomass allocation, materials lead time variability, and schedule adherence misses
  • Standardize scheduling tools, templates, dashboards, and KPIs across sites; partner with data engineering and operations finance to scale the Production Scheduler Dashboard and related reporting
  • Benchmark scheduling performance across sites; share what’s working, surface what isn’t, and translate site-level wins into network-wide standards
  • Maintain a prioritized backlog of CI opportunities surfaced by site schedulers; close the loop by communicating which items are being worked, by whom, and when

Continuous Improvement, Reporting, & Performance Management

  • Maintain and report scheduling KPIs including schedule adherence, WIP aging, FG availability, and attainment vs. plan
  • Identify recurring scheduling failure modes and partner with the VP, Production and Project Specialist to drive systemic improvements
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives that impact scheduling, material flow, and production planning processes

LEAN Manufacturing Leadership

  • Champion LEAN manufacturing principles as the operating philosophy for the GTI scheduling function; pull-based flow, takt time discipline, standard work, visual management, and relentless elimination of the seven wastes
  • Build and own scheduling standard work across the network; documenting how the master schedule is built, sequenced, communicated, and adjusted, and drive site adoption through training, Gemba walks, and audits
