Power markets are volatile, our capital is committed against live positions, and margin and liquidity constraints are binding. Understanding how those pieces interact quantitatively is the core of this job.
Scope grows with the company. As we raise debt and equity, you will take a more central role in those processes, from building the transaction model to running diligence and helping structure the facilities.
We are hiring at either the Associate or Senior Associate level. Scope, title, and compensation are calibrated to experience.
● Develop and own the integrated corporate model across P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow, built from first principles, with assumptions you can defend line by line.
● Translate trading performance, asset economics, and market data into forward financial projections that leadership and the board rely on.
● Build the scenario and sensitivity analysis that stress-tests the business against power price volatility, asset performance, and changes in market structure.
● Present analysis and recommendations to management in memos and decks that support decisions.
Collateral, Credit & Liquidity
● Own the company's collateral posting requirements across market operators and counterparties, including ISOs, utilities, and banks.
● Quantify and monitor credit exposure and margin requirements, and ensure liquidity is sufficient for our positions and efficiently deployed.
● Model collateral needs forward under stressed market conditions so that a volatile week does not become a liquidity surprise.
Capital Allocation & Return Analysis
● Analyze how we deploy capital across trading strategies, energy assets, market expansion, and technology investment.
● Evaluate risk-adjusted returns on competing uses of capital and present the tradeoffs clearly.
● Develop the frameworks that govern allocation over time: hurdle rates, concentration limits, and liquidity constraints.
Investors & Capital Raising (Growing Scope)
● Prepare investor materials, including quarterly updates, board packages, and the financial narrative behind the business.
● Serve as a day-to-day point of contact for existing investors and respond to diligence with precision.
● Support upcoming debt and equity raises: build the transaction model, manage the data room, and coordinate diligence, taking on more of the process over time.
Strategic Outlook
● Partner with leadership on the company's long-range financial outlook as power markets change.
● Evaluate strategic opportunities such as new markets, partnerships, and asset acquisitions.
● Turn complex analysis into recommendations that hold up with a technical, quantitatively fluent leadership team.
● 3–6 years in investment banking, private equity, infrastructure or project finance, capital markets, or a comparable quantitative finance seat.
● Modeling ability at a deal standard. You build integrated models from scratch and know which assumptions drive the answer.
● Quantitative depth. You are comfortable with volatility, distributions, and risk-adjusted return math, and you test your own output before you present it.
● Interest in credit and collateral mechanics, including margin structures, secured facilities, and how liquidity behaves under stress. Direct experience is a plus.
● Strong commercial judgment. You can form a view on a capital allocation question, not just produce the output.
● Precise written communication. Memos and decks that go to investors or the board without a second pass.
● High ownership in an unstructured environment. There is no analyst bench below you and no process manager above you. You set the structure.
●Coverage, investing, or structuring experience in power, energy, utilities, renewables, or commodities.
● Python or SQL for working with market and trading data. Not required, but useful here.
● Exposure to debt or equity raises from either side of the table.
● Familiarity with electricity market structure: ISO/RTO markets, nodal pricing, capacity, or ancillary services.
● Curiosity about how a quantitative trading business makes money.
