Description

Senior LabVIEW Software Engineer (Real-Time & FPGA Systems)

£50,000 - £60,000 + EMI Share Options + Private Healthcare + Pension

Are you a LabVIEW Software Engineer looking for a role where your code directly controls real-world hardware and solves genuinely complex engineering challenges?

We're looking for a Senior LabVIEW Software Engineer to help develop the software behind advanced precision measurement systems used by leading global technology organisations.

This is an opportunity to work at the intersection of software, electronics, control systems, instrumentation and physics, developing high-performance applications that acquire, process and analyse vast quantities of measurement data in real time.

Whether your background is in test & measurement, scientific instrumentation, automation, control systems, aerospace, defence, medical devices or semiconductor technology, you'll be joining a highly collaborative engineering team solving problems where performance, precision and reliability matter.

If you enjoy building software that interacts with hardware and want to see your work deployed into cutting-edge products, we'd love to hear from you.

What you'll be doing

  • Developing LabVIEW Real-Time software for data acquisition, control systems and hardware communication
  • Building and enhancing FPGA functionality using LabVIEW FPGA and NI FlexRIO platforms
  • Creating high-speed data processing pipelines and control algorithms
  • Developing robust communication between FPGA and Real-Time environments using DMA and synchronisation techniques
  • Writing clean, maintainable and scalable production software
  • Supporting software architecture and technical decision-making
  • Contributing to code reviews and engineering best practice
  • Developing automated testing capability and supporting continuous integration activities
  • Working closely with physicists, systems engineers and R&D teams to transform concepts into production-ready solutions
  • Supporting software verification on simulation environments and physical hardware
  • Mentoring colleagues and helping raise engineering standards across the team

We're particularly interested in people with experience in

  • LabVIEW
  • LabVIEW Real-Time (RT)
  • National Instruments (NI) PXI platforms
  • Data acquisition systems
  • Measurement and control systems
  • Scientific instrumentation
  • Automation systems
  • Precision engineering environments
  • FPGA-based hardware and embedded systems

Essential experience

  • Commercial experience developing LabVIEW applications
  • Experience developing software for hardware-controlled or real-time environments
  • Experience working with FPGA-based systems or a strong interest in developing deeper FPGA expertise
  • NI PXI, Real-Time controllers or similar hardware platforms
  • Software architecture, maintainable code development and engineering best practice
  • Git, code reviews and collaborative software development
  • Debugging complex systems spanning software and hardware

Nice to have

  • LabVIEW FPGA
  • Python for automation, scripting or data analysis
  • Digital signal processing (DSP)
  • Control systems and PID tuning
  • Semiconductor equipment or advanced manufacturing environments
  • Optical, photonics or precision measurement systems
  • Automated testing and continuous integration
  • Certified LabVIEW Developer (CLD) or Certified LabVIEW Architect (CLA)

Why join Infinitesima?
