Description

Liquid Personnel is seeking a proactive and motivated Occupational Therapist to join its client's Urgent Response Occupational Therapy Team based in Barnet. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a specialist service providing rapid assessments and interventions for residents at immediate risk of injury, helping to prevent hospital admissions and support safe community living.

The Role:

Working across the London Borough of Barnet, you will undertake urgent Occupational Therapy and Moving & Handling Risk Assessments for complex cases requiring timely intervention.

This is a busy and rewarding role that requires strong clinical reasoning, excellent manual handling expertise, and the ability to work independently while contributing positively to a close-knit team.

The successful candidate will participate in a weekly Duty OT rota and work closely with colleagues to deliver a responsive and high-quality service.

What will your responsibilities be?

  • Complete urgent Occupational Therapy assessments across the borough.
  • Undertake complex moving and handling risk assessments.
  • Assess and recommend specialist equipment and interventions.
  • Support carers and service users where there is a high risk of injury.
  • Contribute to safeguarding investigations relating to equipment and manual handling concerns.
  • Assess requests for increased care packages where manual handling assessments are required.
  • Respond to urgent referrals involving unsafe transfers, mobility issues, and equipment failures.
  • Work collaboratively with health, social care, and community partners.

Referral Criteria Includes:

You will assess referrals involving:

  • Unsafe transfers and mobility situations presenting an immediate risk of injury.
  • High-risk moving and handling concerns affecting service users or carers.
  • Safeguarding concerns relating to equipment or manual handling.
  • Equipment that is no longer fit for purpose and presents a significant safety risk.
  • Requests for increased care support requiring specialist manual handling assessments.
  • Palliative care cases where alternative specialist services are not involved.

Benefits:

  • £36.00 per hour
  • Hybrid working model
  • Supportive and experienced team environment
  • Varied and rewarding urgent response caseload
  • Opportunity to make an immediate impact on service users' safety and independence

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Degree in Occupational Therapy and HCPC registration
  • Extensive experience in moving and handling assessments
  • Strong knowledge of equipment provision and risk management
  • Ability to work autonomously and manage a demanding caseload
  • Experience within community, adult social care, urgent response, or hospital discharge services
  • Excellent communication and report-writing skills
  • A proactive and positive approach to teamwork
  • A car driver is preferred due to the borough-wide nature of the role.
