Liquid Personnel is recruiting Social Worker for its client's Children’s Assessment Team at Cambridgeshire.

The successful candidate will undertake high-quality assessments of children and families where there are concerns regarding a child’s welfare, safety or development.

You will work closely with children, parents, carers and partner agencies to understand the circumstances of each family, identify strengths and risks, and determine the most appropriate support and intervention required.

The role requires a confident practitioner who can manage a varied and potentially complex caseload, make sound professional decisions and ensure that children remain at the centre of all assessments and planning.

What will your responsibilities be?

  • Undertake comprehensive assessments of children and families in accordance with statutory requirements.
  • Respond to referrals and identify appropriate levels of support and intervention.
  • Undertake child and family assessments, including assessments of risk, need, parenting capacity and protective factors.
  • Visit children and families in their homes and other appropriate settings.
  • Ensure that children's views, wishes and feelings are fully considered throughout the assessment process.
  • Identify safeguarding concerns and take appropriate action where children may be at risk of harm.
  • Work collaboratively with parents, carers and extended family members to develop effective plans for children.
  • Work closely with schools, health professionals, police, early help services and other partner agencies.
  • Participate in strategy discussions, professional meetings and multi-agency safeguarding processes where required.
  • Complete assessments, reports and case recordings to a high professional standard and within statutory timescales.
  • Make evidence-based recommendations regarding the most appropriate services and interventions for children and families.
  • Identify when cases require escalation to child protection procedures or other statutory interventions.
  • Consider children who may require accommodation or alternative care arrangements where necessary.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records in accordance with council policies and professional standards.
  • Manage a demanding caseload effectively, prioritising work according to risk and need.
  • Promote strengths-based, relationship-focused and outcome-focused practice.
  • Contribute to service development and effective partnership working.

Qualifications & Experience:

To be successful in this role you must have,

  • Social Work England registration.
  • A recognised Social Work qualification, such as a BA or MA in Social Work.
  • Relevant post-qualifying experience within children's social care.
  • Experience undertaking statutory assessments of children and families.
  • Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
  • Good understanding of relevant legislation and statutory guidance, including the Children Act 1989 and 2004 and Working Together to Safeguard Children.
  • Experience working with children, young people and families experiencing complex needs.
  • Ability to analyse information, identify risk and make sound professional decisions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent assessment, recording and report-writing skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with partner agencies and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to manage a caseload and meet statutory timescales.
  • Commitment to promoting positive outcomes for children and families.
