Description

At Locus Robotics, we build AI-powered systems and intelligent robots that keep global supply chains running. Our platform combines advanced AI, real-time decision-making, and autonomous robotics to help leading companies improve efficiency, scale operations, and adapt to constant change.

Locus Robotics is a place to do meaningful work with real-world impact, where your ideas move quickly from concept to deployment. We invest in our people, encourage continuous learning, and give you the opportunity to grow your career while building technology that is used every day at global scale.

As a Lead, Robotics Software Engineer, you'll have the opportunity to lead the development and deployment of NeuraGrasp™, our advanced robotic grasping technology that is shaping the future of warehouse automation.

You will combine hands-on software engineering with technical leadership, working alongside world-class robotics, AI, perception, and hardware teams to transform cutting-edge innovation into production-ready robotic systems operating at scale.

This role is based onsite at our North Vancouver, BC office and requires in-office presence five days per week (Monday–Friday).

Responsibilities

  • Define and drive the software roadmap required to successfully productize NeuraGrasp™ technology.
  • Translate product objectives into clear technical plans, milestones, and execution strategies.
  • Identify technical integration risks early and coordinate solutions across robotics, perception, hardware, and product teams.
  • Establish software architecture, engineering standards, and best practices to support scalable product development.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of employees, providing direction, performance management, career development, and mentorship to drive individual and team success.
  • Provide technical leadership throughout deployment, testing, validation, performance monitoring, and field activities.
  • Lead design reviews, mentor engineers, and foster technical excellence through collaboration, code reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Lead the integration of NeuraGrasp technology into robotic products, prototypes, and testing environments, ensuring reliable interaction between software, hardware, and perception systems.
  • Define, track, and develop tooling to measure key performance indicators (KPIs), system performance, reliability, and failure modes across robotic systems.
  • Support field deployments and drive continuous product and hardware improvements through data-driven analysis.
  • Improve operational data collection, processing, quality, monitoring, and supporting infrastructure for ongoing product development and optimization.
  • Develop robotic applications, software tools, internal platforms, automation frameworks, and testing systems that accelerate experimentation, debugging, validation, and operational analysis.
  • Design, develop, test, and maintain production-quality software using Python and/or C++.
  • Work closely with robotic hardware to diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve integration challenges.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in software engineering, robotics, automation, or a related technical field.
  • Strong software development experience in Python and/or C++, including robotics, automation platforms, distributed systems, or real-time applications.
  • Leadership experience overseeing teams and driving employee performance, growth, and career development.
  • Experience working with ROS/ROS2 and robotic software systems.
  • Proven experience leading cross-functional technical initiatives and translating ambiguous requirements into actionable technical plans and measurable outcomes.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence without direct authority and engage diverse audiences effectively.
  • Experience with robotic manipulation, grasping technologies, industrial automation, and/or robotic deployments in production or customer-facing environments.
  • Experience developing experimentation frameworks, operational metrics, performance evaluation systems, and data-driven decision-making processes.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms, databases, data pipelines, and analytics infrastructure.
  • Experience working in fast-paced startups or growth-stage technology companies.
  • Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage diverse audiences effectively

The expected base salary range for this role is CAD $130K – $190K annually, based on external market data, plus bonus and equity. Actual offers will depend on factors such as the candidate’s experience, education, training, key or critical skills, geographic location, and current market and business conditions.
