In everything we do, we’re committed to artistic integrity, transparency, and entrepreneurship.

Sony Music Entertainment is a member of the Sony family of global companies.

Sony Music’s Product, Design, Engineering & Global Operations (PDEGO) organization is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead our RoyaltyShare engineering team in our London office.

RoyaltyShare supports critical royalty accounting and financial processes across Sony Music, helping ensure complex music data is accurately processed and royalties are delivered to artists and partners around the world.

As an Engineering Manager, you’ll lead and develop a team of software engineers while partnering closely with Product, business stakeholders, and engineering leadership. You’ll be responsible for the team’s technical direction, delivery, and operational health, helping modernize our platforms while creating an environment where engineers can do their best work.

What you'll do:

● Lead, coach, and develop a team of software engineers, providing regular feedback, career guidance, and support
● Own the team’s delivery, technical direction, and operational health in partnership with Product and business stakeholders
● Translate complex royalty accounting and financial requirements into clear technical plans and scalable solutions
● Guide architecture and design decisions across distributed systems, APIs, data pipelines, and platform services
● Partner with Product to define priorities, manage scope, and deliver against the team’s roadmap
● Establish clear engineering practices that improve code quality, reliability, maintainability, and delivery
● Support engineers through technical coaching, design reviews, code reviews, and hands-on problem-solving when needed
● Lead modernization initiatives while balancing immediate business needs with long-term platform investments
● Champion application reliability, performance, observability, security, and operational excellence
● Identify and address technical debt, delivery risks, and dependencies across the platform
● Guide the team through complex production issues and ensure effective root-cause analysis and follow-through
● Build strong relationships across Engineering, Product, Finance, Operations, and other global stakeholder groups

● Support hiring, onboarding, workforce planning, and the continued growth of the RoyaltyShare engineering team
● Foster an inclusive, collaborative, and accountable engineering culture

Who you are:

● Experience managing, coaching, and developing software engineers
● Strong technical background building and operating complex software platforms
● Experience with Python and JavaScript
● Experience building frontend applications using TypeScript and React
● Experience with database technologies and query languages; we use Snowflake, MySQL, Neo4j, Kafka, OpenSearch, and more
● Experience designing and supporting microservices and APIs using REST, HTTP, and OAuth
● Comfortable working with AWS cloud technologies
● Experience using logging, monitoring, and observability tools to investigate production issues and improve reliability
● Experience establishing effective testing practices across unit, integration, and automated testing
● Experience leading teams within Agile development environments
● Strong delivery management skills, with the ability to balance priorities, dependencies, and technical constraints
● Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence technical, product, and business stakeholders
● A thoughtful and supportive leadership style, with a passion for helping engineers grow

The ideal candidate

● Experience leading teams overseeing the build of large-scale financial, royalty accounting, ERP, payments, e-commerce, content, data, or other data-intensive enterprise applications
● Strong understanding of software architecture, domain modeling, and scalable system design
● Experience leading teams responsible for business-critical platforms and high-volume transactional systems
● Experience designing data models and optimizing schemas for complex business domains
● Ability to establish a clear technical vision and mobilize a team around its execution
● Experience improving engineering practices, development processes, and team effectiveness
● Strong systems-thinking mindset, with the ability to balance immediate delivery needs against long-term platform health
● Demonstrated success partnering with Product and business stakeholders in complex organizational environments
● Experience leading platform modernization or legacy-system transformation initiatives
● Ability to remain close enough to the technology to guide technical decisions and support the team when needed
● Passion for building inclusive, high-performing engineering teams
● Interest in music, technology, and building systems that directly support artists and creators
