About the Role

The VP of Growth will lead Skillz’s Growth and LiveOps organizations, shaping how we attract, engage, retain, and grow the value of players across our platform. This is a broad leadership role spanning performance marketing, organic growth, lifecycle, LiveOps, and player offers and incentives.

We’re looking for a data-driven growth leader who understands both acquisition and the in-product player economy, has built and led high-performing teams, and knows how to turn customer insights and experimentation into sustainable growth. You’ll work closely with Product, Analytics, Engineering, Finance, and other leaders to help define and deliver the next phase of growth for Skillz.

Responsibilities

• Own both the Growth org and the LiveOps org for Skillz Platform — a single accountable owner for demand generation and for the in-app economy of events, offers and messaging that converts it.

• Lead Performance Marketing / UA (via the Head of Performance), Organic (ASO/CPP), and Creative — allocating spend across networks × games × surfaces against CAC-to-stable and stable-LTV, never CPI alone.

• Own the LiveOps operating model: per-game events, promos and offer slates across Solitaire Skillz, Blackout Bingo, Dominoes Gold and Arena, with a dedicated owner per surface.

• Own Lifecycle CRM and reactivation — email, push notification and in-app messaging as a single function, measured on holdout-audited incremental NGR per campaign, with CleverTap journey execution run out of LiveOps.

• Own the incentive and offer economy: deposit bonusing rules, LTO design, trophies, leagues support and the live-event program, holding effective rake in the agreed band across all cohorts.

• Instrument the owned channels — CTR-level measurement, deliverability, opt-out guardrails and campaign→venue routing — so cadence and creative decisions are measured trade-offs rather than bets.

• Partner as a peer with Product, Analytics, Engineering, CX & VIP, Brand and FP&A; represent Growth & LiveOps in quarterly planning, MBR/QBR and the weekly operating cadence.

• Hire, develop and retain the function and build the leadership layer that removes single-person execution risk.

1. Owns the join, not one side of it — has run paid acquisition and in-app monetization/lifecycle together, and can arbitrate between a CAC target and an incentive budget without defaulting to whichever is easier to measure.

2. Incentive-economy judgement — reasons fluently about effective rake, bonus decay, wallet balance, net-winner exclusion and the difference between a discount that triggers a behaviour and one that funds a habit.

3. Refuses vanity metrics — insists on CAC-to-stable, incremental NGR and holdout reads; comfortable telling a stakeholder that a campaign that looked good pre/post did nothing.

4. Builds per-surface ownership — has broken a centralised operations function into game/market/product-specific ownership without losing shared standards.

5. Executive communication and productive tension — can hold a position against a peer whose number their decision depresses, in front of the exec team, and still keep the partnership.

6. Operates through others — the scope is too broad to run hands-on; the test is whether the six functions beneath them run without them in the room.

1. 12+ years in growth / performance marketing / LiveOps with 5+ years leading multi-team organisations including managers reporting in.

2. Owned both paid acquisition and in-app monetization or lifecycle for a consumer product with a real-money, wallet or transactional economy — real-money gaming, fintech, online gambling or mid-core F2P with a deep economy strongly preferred.

3. Ran a LiveOps or events/offers function at scale across multiple titles or surfaces, with per-title ownership rather than a single shared calendar.

4. Built or rebuilt a lifecycle/CRM function (email, push, in-app) with holdout-based incrementality measurement — CleverTap, Braze, iterable or equivalent.

5. Managed multi-million-dollar media budgets across networks with network-level relationships, and can evidence spend reallocation driven by incrementality rather than last-click.

6. Comfortable in an organization mid-restructure, with a distributed India–US team and an analytics function that scores their numbers independently.
